RACING AT THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS RALLY

The Republic Of Texas Motorcycle Rally is proud to welcome The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) for the first time in honor of our 25th anniversary. The AHRMA races will be held all rally long on the ROTMR grounds at the Circuit of The Americas. Derwood Flat Track Racing and demonstrations by The Race of Gentlemen will also be burning up the track during the rally. Check back for more information on daily schedules, sign ups and passes.

THE AMERICAN HISTORIC RACING MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION (AHRMA)

The 2021 Republic Of Texas Motorcycle Rally has partnered with The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association to bring a blast from the past to the rally. Races will take place on the dirt oval on the Rally Midway all rally long.

The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association has attempted to preserve the sights and sounds of this uniquely American sport and display it to the public by providing a set of governing rules intended to capture each distinct period of dirt track racing (Class C, brakeless, vintage, and Seventies era) and pit the motorcycles of that period against each other in fair competition. Races are held on a variety of dirt tracks, ranging from short tracks, half-miles, miles and Tourist Trophy circuits, with National points awarded to encourage participation and recognize achievement. The rules are written to provide safe and suitable competition classes for as many period motorcycles as possible while maintaining level competition between different types and preserving the historical basis for each class. A concerted effort is made to maintain a stable rules structure so that members may participate with their machines for an extended period of time without having to upgrade or modify their motorcycles to adapt to changing rules.

THE RACE OF GENTLEMEN (TROG)

TROG isn’t an invention. It’s been happening well before our founders were born, but now it has a name and a place in the foreground of modern culture. TROG taps into something primal and emotional. An escape from an impressively mundane world, offering mechanical reprieve from its backlit, binary grip. TROG events are real, jarring and built on the strongest, sappiest foundation of all… friendship. A weekend retreat with late nights and early mornings, where you laugh and yell and experience nature in the strangest possible way. A reminder that most admirable aspects of humanity have yet to die off.

The inaugural Race of Gentlemen was held in 2012 on the beach in Asbury Park, NJ, just days before Hurricane Sandy made landfall. New Jersey has a storied tradition of beach racing, including an epic 1-mile beach race in Cape May during the summer of 1905. The exhibition featured the likes of Henry Ford, Louis Chevrolet and speed record holder Walter Christie. At the time, the Cape May beach was deemed the “finest racing beach” in the world. The Race of Gentlemen has since moved from Asbury Park to Wildwood—a stone’s throw from Cape May—for its flatter, wider beaches and legendary boardwalk. Enthusiasts now attend from all over the country to run their machines down a 1/8-mile straightaway in front of thousands of spectators. The event continues to grow and garner international recognition, while laying the groundwork for additional exhibitions and races around the country.
